Drone Harmony – ESA BIC Switzerland

Drone Harmony is the leading industry software solution for automating complex drone inspections.

Vaireco GmbH – ESA BIC Hessen & Baden-Württemberg

vaireco is combining 3D-laserscanning and photogrammetry expertise with aerial thermography. The result is optical and thermal 3D models from single buildings or other objects to even large area 2D/3D mapping in square kilometer scale.

High-tech service business for customers looking at technical inspection, surveying, analysis or visualization with or without including thermography data.

ThingsOnAir – ESA BIC Hessen & Baden-Württemberg

ThingsOnAir develops GNSS antennas and embedded systems for Positioning/Heading and sensor integration.

They offer customized solutions based on their existing systems and help customers to integrate them into their professional UAVs.
ThingsOnAir is alumnus of the ESA BIC Darmstadt/Germany.

ThingsOnAir’s mission at INTERGEO:
ThingsOnAir will provide a preview of their Dual Band GNSS antenna for UAVs. It’s already in customer tests but they are hoping for a few more UAV manufacturers to help them with extended testing before they ramp up production.
They will also provide an early preview of our Positioning+Heading system which they are planning to make available in early 2021.  

Precision Navigation Systems (PRNS) – ESA BIC Estonia

PRNS create hardware and software solutions that help companies and governments build sustainable ground-based GNSS infrastructure. For land-surveying, precision agriculture, mining, construction, autonomous vehicles, and drones.

Their service Stargate RTK provides easy access to GNSS networks through a single interface. For mass applications which need to scale globally, have affordable prices, tailor GNSS data streams for their unconventional needs.  

PRNS’s mission at INTERGEO:
They are looking for customers who would like to enrol into a private beta test of Stargate RTK, partners who have access to ground-based GNSS networks and would like to adapt them for innovative applications.

fixposition – ESA BIC Switzerland

Fixposition is on a mission to simplify autonomous navigation by increasing reliability and availability of precise positioning.

They develop deep sensor fusion of RTK-GNSS, IMU, and Computer Vision to ensure high-reliability of centimeter-accurate positioning in all types of environments. This disruptive technology enables safer and more automated operation of drones and ground robotic vehicles. The company was founded by two top-talent Pioneer Fellowship teams from ETH Zurich joining their extensive know-how in GNSS and Computer Vision.

ESA Space Solutions is the go-to-place for great business ideas involving space in all areas of society and economy. Our mission is to support entrepreneurs in Europe in the development of business using satellite applications and space technology to improve everyday life. Our programme is designed to provide multiple entry points such as ESA Business Incubation Centres (ESA BICs), ESA Technology Broker Network, and ESA Business Applications programme. Funding typically ranges from 50KEuro to 2MEuro and supports everything from space technology transfer, early stage incubation programs, feasibility studies to large-scale demonstration projects.

ESA BIC’s are part of ESA´s pan-European network of Business Incubation Centres operated by ESA Space Solutions. The network has now grown to 21 in 18 European countries. Together they form the largest ecosystem in the world for space-related entrepreneurship. Over 900 new start-ups have been fostered and another 220 are taken in annually at the network’s business incubation sites.

After having entered the cooperation with the Australian company Southern launch (read more), HOSTmi can report from another success. Only one week after, they started a cooperation with the Indian smallsat launcher Agnikul.

The evaluation phase of the leading innovation competition for Earth Observation comes up with first very exciting first results. The winners will not be disclosed until the Awards Ceremony in December, but the finalists of the Copernicus Masters Prize Hesse will already be revealed now.

It’s tough being a start-up at the best of times. At the beginning of March 2020, in their first lockdown videoconference, the agriBORA team was unanimous. It was going to be difficult to survive.

The evaluation phase of the leading innovation competition for Satellite Navigation comes up with some results. The winners will not be disclosed until the Awards Ceremony in December but the finalists of the Galileo Prize Hesse can already be revealed now.

HOSTmi GmbH, a Darmstadt-based, young IT company has developed an online B2B platform to facilitate the matching of payloads with available launch capacity. This enables the hosting of payloads across a diverse range of space platforms globally, including orbital, sub-orbital and deep space campaigns. Southern Launch, as a provider of launch services in South Australia, has recognized the benefit that the HOSTmi platform can provide to its customers, and so has executed a Brokerage Agreement with HOSTmi. HOSTmi entered the ESA BIC Hessen & Baden-Württemberg in 2018.

Deep Blue Globe, Dipteron and HOSTmi are among the 15 selected teams that receive access to €100.000 equity-free funding and the PARSEC second stage business support services. In total, 60 consortia consisting of start-ups and SMEs had their businesses evaluated by a jury of experts during the PARSEC Demo days.

ConstellR, startup from the ESA BIC Hessen & Baden-Württemberg, could prevail against a big number of competitors and reached a joint third place. Each startup presented their business proposals to delegates online at ESA’s Industrial Policy Committee meeting on 29 June. ConstellR’s idea is to offer a land surface temperature monitoring service based on a CubeSat constellation and Copernicus data. This way, agriculture shall become more efficient and greener.

right. based on science, climate change startup from the ESA BIC Hessen & Baden-Württemberg, used its proprietary X-Degree Compatibility (XDC) Model to analyse the climate impact until 2050 of all stocks included in the ‘Solactive Europe 600’ index since 2013. Now the index provider Solactive released the ‘Solactive right. 2 Degree-Aligned Europe Index’ based on right. based on Science’s XDC Economic Climate Impact Model. It is a benchmark index based on a broad portfolio of sector-leading European companies aligned with a 2°C global warming scenario through 2050. right.’s software enables clients to measure the contribution of a company or a portfolio to climate change. Results are expressed as a tangible °C value. Originally, they planned to use Earth Observation data for their calculations.

Darmstadt/Oberhausen, 30. Juni 2020. Branchenspezialisierung auf beiden Seiten: Die L-One Systems GmbH hat den Verkauf ihrer cloudbasierten Software Shaufel für Friedhofsgärtnereien und Floristen an die Terra Software GmbH aus Oberhausen abgeschlossen. Das Darmstädter Unternehmen geht damit den nächsten konsequenten Schritt in der Ausrichtung auf seine Kernkompetenzen Natural Language Processing (NLP) und IT-Outstaffing-Services. Terra Software hingegen stärkt seine Positionierung in der grünen Branche mit der Übernahme der Branchenlösung einschließlich des langjährigen Kundenstamms. L-One Systems wurde 2012 in das ESA BIC in Darmstadt aufgenommen. Essenziell für die Aufnahme war ein Raumfahrtbezug, der in der Nutzung von Satellitennavigationsdaten für die Smartphone-App Shaufel lag. Dadurch können z. B. Friedhofsgärtner die Gräber ihrer Kunden leichter finden.
